BaitNet.com is FOR SALE

Here's the deal...

I started BaitNet.com in 1998. I noticed there was not a reliable or thorough source of information on the internet regarding bait shops, tackle outlets, bait and tackle wholesalers, tackle manufacturers, and the like. My goal was to create a website that would fill this gap, and be a resource to all of the angling public, as well as a side business, with which to make some extra income.

In the 19 years I have operated the site, it has become obvious to me that the angling public is using the site and is also appreciative of it as a resource. Many times I have received comments that people visit the site regularly and it has been valuable to them. However, I have not been able to devote time to developing it as a business due to my devotion to my family and the demands of my career.

Thus, I have not spent time or money marketing the site, I do not advertise it anywhere other than reciprocal links, and I do not promote it in any of the search engines beyond the basic free listings. In addition, I have not solicited any new advertising clients for the site for many years now, simply because I do not have the time to do so. All the advertisers you see on the site came to me, asking to advertise on BaitNet. I spend about two hours weekly answering email and serving my advertising clients. That is about all the time I have had in recent years.

Viewer traffic has generally increased over the years, and in 2016, we had as many as 15,000 unique viewers monthly during peak season (summer). As I have spent less time on it, 2017 traffic has been down from 2016. Here is a link to a simple, public viewer traffic summary: http://extremetracking.com/open?login=baitnut

Site Information

The site begins with a home page with a clickable map of the US and Canada, some advertising boxes around the map, and links to various other sections of the site. There is a page for each US state and Canadian province, each also containing ad boxes along the sides. The database of bait shops is accessible through a search page, or by visiting any of the state and province pages. There is also a links page, link to us, and contact pages. Viewers who are interested in advertising can find all of the advertising information from a main header link that is visible on all of the pages.

There is a manager page that the administrator has access to, where you can add, edit, or delete shops from the database, upload or download the entire database, and manage advertisers. The ad management system allows you to place ads in the system, control how many views they get or set an expiration date, choose what pages the ads are displayed on, etc. It is all programmed in the PHP language.

Asking Price is $3500. I feel that is a low price, considering all the work I have put in over the years. It is simply time for me to move on to other things. I think BaitNet could become a pretty popular site with a well-managed forum and some fresh material. It just needs the attention it deserves. Contact me at minnowbucket@baitnet.com, if interested. Thanks, Andy Bartels, owner.
